The LA and CO E-Fundraising seminars are in the books; next up, SEA and PDX, Lord permitting

Today’s a travel day to SEA, Lord permitting, in my week of e-fund raising seminars.

Had a great time in COS yesterday and in LA the day before. The lunch-wrap-bar in CO beat the sandwiches-in-clear-plastic-casing in LA; the weather was a push (great in both places); and the groups gathered were both inspiring to me.

So far the stupidest thing I said by far involved cats no longer able to smile.

So just two days after you seminar, i received a free copy of a new magazine called COLLIDE, in the mail. Their Web site is http://www.collidemagazine.com. They had a great one-page article on Web 2.0 and why the church/ministry world should embrace it. My favorite line described Web 2.0 as the 21st Century potluck… everyone brings something to the table.

Actually the smiling cat comment was PURRRRFECT! (sorry, just had to). I don’t like cats but I did like the seminar. You hit a Grand Slam DUDE!!!!!

BTW, don’t tell Suzanne I said that!

I’ve recently been attending a number of seminars provided by Mission Increase including the PDX seminar on E-fundraising. This training is extremely valuable and has dramatically changed the way I view not only our non-profit ministry, but also how I view donors (champions) and our shared cause. There is a repeating theme throughout the seminars that redefines our relationship with donors and supporters. The new model links us with individuals and communities that have the same passion for our cause and calling. As you were asked how to stay on top of all of the relevant sites, I have a similar question. With all of this training that I am receiving, how do I adequately communicate it to the Board? If you could recommend one book that I could give to each board member to read, what would it be? I have already decided to give them the Randy Alcorn book, “The Treasure Principle”. http://www.epm.org/randybio.html

Roger, were I to give them one book it would probably be Alan Gotthardt’s “The Eternity Portfolio”, http://www.eternityportfolio.com. Were I to read one as a practitioner, it would be David Meerman Scott’s “The New Rules of PR & Marketing”, http://www.davidmeermanscott.com. Happy reading!
